 | Valentown Museum was built in 1879 on a busy crossroads of Ontario County by Levi Valentine in hopes of creating a town. The massive 5 -story wooden building was an early mall of sorts containing a community center, shoppes, schoolrooms, meeting rooms and a grand ballroom covering the entire top floor. After several bouts with the bankruptcies of several different owners, it sat empty for years until 1940 when it was purchased for $400 including the thousands of artifacts still inside. Ironically, a hundred years or so later Eastview Mall was also built on these same crossroads and thrives today as one of the largest indoor retail centers in the country. Valentown still stands proud in its shadow offering a glimpse of life during the early pioneer days of this country.
The old buildings at Valentown have fallen into disrepair and need substantial support to remain standing for future generations to visit and be awed. Valentown Square remains a center for entertainment and education but for how long? This first annual Spiritfest was created to provide assistance in the restoration efforts. Come on out for a good time and a good cause.
You won't be disappointed.
History still speaks at Valentown Square. Come experience it for yourself

HISTORIC PALMYRA is a non-profit, 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to preserving the history and architectural heritage of Palmyra, New York. Once known as the "Queen of Erie Canal towns," Palmyra boasts an astonishing array of architecture, ranging from the early 1800's to Victorian era grandeur.
Experience the late night life at the Wm. Phelps General Store and home as well as the 23 room Palmyra Historical Museum for the other side of history. Those unspoken, unseen, yet always very apparent in every room will thrill you with a sudden whisper, foot step, or touch. Join the number of groups that have experienced the strange noises, apparitions, caught photographs, and chased ghostly cats only to find nothing is there.
Historic Palmyra's mission is “to save the history of Palmyra and vicinity through preservation of architecture, artifacts, and archives; teaching and educating all in that history using its museums and collections.” This mission is served primarily through the operation of four unique museums, welcoming thousands of visitors each year...
